Fall Back

Even though we are lost an hour of daylight on Sunday, we are not losing any momentum at New Scotland Elementary School! Our students have been enjoying some fantastic field trips, and I’m excited to share that the PTA Harvest Fest is scheduled for Nov. 22.

This week, we will also hold a PBIS assembly for our students. As a reminder, our monthly focus for October has been respect.

In alignment with our elections, we will be holding a school-wide mock election for prekindergarten to fifth grade. Our fifth-graders read the book "Duck for President," and based on the book, students in grades PreK-2 will vote for Duck or Farmer Brown. Students in grades 3-5 will vote for the fifth-grade candidates running for the Student Leadership Team.

As the weather gets colder, please remember that we still go outside for activities. It’s important to dress in layers, and labeling student clothing can help prevent items from getting lost or misplaced.

Read for Ronald McDonald House

We have participated in the "Read for Ronald McDonald House" program for several years, typically in the spring. This year, we have decided to move it to the month of November, aligning with the month of giving. This program focuses on reading and literacy while providing essential support to families facing serious childhood illnesses.

Read for RMHC is a reading and literacy-based community service program where readers gather sponsors for their reading efforts. All donations earned will be directed to support families dealing with these challenging situations.

We hope all of our students will participate in this program. I am looking forward to making this event a success this year.
