News of the week

  • My Brother's Keeper Game Night – On Friday, Nov. 8, My Brother's Keeper hosted an awesome event with basketball, yard games, video games on the big screen and more! A big shout out to all the staff, parents, community members, student leaders who collaborated to make this event possible. 

  • Honoring veterans – This week our ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ High students had the opportunity to honor our veterans at two different events! On Nov. 11, our Junior ROTC students and the ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ Marching Falcons marched in the City of ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­'s annual . On Nov. 13, the ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ High String Quintet and students from our Junior ROTC program provided music and the presentation of the colors at the .
     
  • Chamber Concert – Our Falcons put on a gorgeous evening of musical performance at the of the season on Nov.13! There will be two more concerts in this series. Visit our website for details on the Dec. 4 concert and the Dec. 11 concert. Also, be sure to mark your calendars for the annual City of ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ Holiday Tree Lighting. Our Albanettes and Troubadours will be performing at this event on Dec. 5!
     
  • Lunch and Learn – Our Falcons enjoyed a heartfelt and dynamic presentation by muralist and art educator, Eugene O'Neill at our on Wednesday, Nov. 13. 
     
  • Chili Cookoff – Our culinary students have been s this week for their annual fundrasier on Friday, Nov. 15. We will annouce the winner next week, so stay tuned!
     
  • Academic Resources – Our staff and teachers have been working hard to equip students with helpful resources to set them up for success both in and out of the classroom.

    • The Liberty Partnerships Program is held every Thursday at the Falcon center during all lunch shifts. This program provides homework help, one-on-one tutoring, college and career preparation, mentorship and cultural and enrichment programs. 
       
  • Winter sports season – Our winter sports season starts on Monday, Nov. 18 for student athletes in grades 9-12. Visit our website to view important details about the tryout and practice schedules. Families must register their student athlete via . 
     
  • Bring It On auditions – Musical theatre is a total blast! Any Falcon interested in participating in the spring musical, Bring It On, is encouraged to come try out on Nov. 18 and Nov. 20. There are many roles available and we can't wait to see all the talent in the room at auditions!

Important reminders

  • ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ High is a closed campus, which means:
     
    • Students are not allowed to leave campus for any reason without parent permission. Students who leave campus without a valid reason will not be allowed to re-enter the building without parent contact.
       
    • All students are required to take the bus to and from Abrookin & the main campus for any classes. Students who do not take the bus will not be allowed to re-enter without parent contact. The bus is available at the Washington Ave doors.
       
    • Students should never let anyone in the building through any door, even after school hours. This is a violation of the Code of Conduct. All students and adults entering our campus must enter through security routine.
       
    • Please be reminded personal food deliveries will not be accepted by security. If you leave the campus to receive an order, you will not be allowed re-entry.
       
  • Student safety during afterschool commute  – Read this important update from Principal Jodi Commerford about a recent change in CDTA stops during the afterschool commute.
     
  • Academy lottery applications – Applications are now available for the 2025-26 ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ academy lottery! Current City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ»­ families are welcome to complete the application online now, but please note that all current eighth-graders will have the opportunity to visit the high school, learn about each academy, and then complete the application with their guidance counselor. Private, parochial and charter school families in the city who would like to enroll their current eighth-grader in the lottery must complete an application by Nov. 28.
