Students were engaged in their “shelf work” on Friday morning, moving between subjects while learning about holidays around the world. Shelf work is a hallmark of the Montessori method that allows students to work independently under the guidance of a teacher – Bruce and teaching assistant Barbara Carangelo, in this case.
The class then concluded its unit on hibernation with a group reading of Michelle Meadows’ Hibernation Station, joined by stuffed animal friends housed in dens they had constructed earlier in the week.
