Fittingly, the ÉðÊ¿Âþ» Sgt. Henry Johnson Battalion Junior ROTC held its annual promotion and leadership awards ceremony on Monday – Flag Day and the 246th birthday of the U.S. Army.
Cadets received a variety of honors at the event, held at the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post 1520 Hall and bestowed by members of a variety of veteran groups including Gold Star Mothers, North ÉðÊ¿Âþ» American Legion Post 1610, the Tri-County Council of Vietnam Era Veterans and William Wigand VFW Post 8444.
Also on hand to help with pinnings were family members, Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams, ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High Principal Jodi Commerford, ÉðÊ¿Âþ» Board of Education member Sridar Chittur, Ph.D., and JROTC advisers Maj. David Erickson and 1st Sgt. Allen Reome.

- The Sons of Union Veterans Award – Keyshawn Witters, senior
- Daughters of the American Revolution Award – EhBlu Say, senior and Chika Uzoeshi, sophomore
- Daughters of 1812 Award – Cristin Marte, senior
- Order of the Purple Heart Award – Jayan Campbell, sophomore
- Daughters of the American Colonists – Ariana Lovett-Blackman, sophomore
- AMVET Award – Thaw Nay Hea, junior
- American Legion Award for Military Excellence – Henry Sowah, senior
- American Legion Award for Academic Excellence – Kevin Kam, sophomore
- Veterans of Foreign Wars – Michael Lubinski, senior
- Association of the United States Army – Uziel Adil, senior
- Military Officers Association – Jesus Castillo, junior
- Reserve Officers Association – Christian Chesed, junior
- Retired Enlisted Association – Solomon Feroze, sophomore

Also, senior Michael Lubinski passed along the chain of command to junior Jesus Castillo.
