District conducting required lead testing

City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» logo

In accordance with state law, every five years all public school districts are required to test lead levels from all water outlets currently or potentially used for drinking or cooking purposes. The City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» is in the process of conducting this testing at all 20 district buildings.

This testing will include about 1,500 total samples district-wide, including all schools and district offices at Academy Park, and the Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center and connected Essex Street offices. All results will be conducted with the assistance of a state-approved laboratory.

The district will test all water outlets that someone could possibly draw water from to drink. This includes water fountains as well as bathroom sinks, locker room showers, janitorial sinks and kitchen sinks.

We will report results and any necessary follow-up requirements through each individual building. Please watch for more information.
