ÉðÊ¿Âþ» senior Nevaeh Boyd received a Good Citizen Award Wednesday from the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Mohawk Chapter.
The Good Citizen award recognizes and rewards students who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Boyd is active in ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High’s Sgt. Henry Johnson Battalion Junior ROTC and her church, volunteering at numerous events including community cleanups, PAL activities, military honor events and much more.
Boyd was honored at a ceremony at Pruyn House in Latham. She was joined by her mom, grandmother and little sister, City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Lori McKenna, ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High Principal Jodi Commerford and JROTC Adviser Maj. David Erickson.
At the ceremony, she received a certificate, a pin and a $100 prize.
Boyd will attend The College of Saint Rose in September and study social studies and adolescent education. After college, she hopes to return to ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High as a teacher.
