The start of the winter season for ÉðÊ¿Âþ»’s high-risk winter sports -- boys’ and girls’ basketball, and competitive cheer -- is on hold pending additional guidance from the ÉðÊ¿Âþ» County Health Department.
The county determined this week that these high-risk winter sports cannot start on Feb. 1 as initially hoped due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. County Executive Daniel McCoy has indicated a desire to move forward with the high-risk sports once positivity rates and hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decline.
Informational meeting Sunday
Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Ashley Chapple has scheduled a virtual meeting Sunday at 3 p.m. to provide additional updates and answer questions from student-athletes and families interested in basketball and cheerleading.

Registration continues
Registration remains open for ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High’s basketball and competitive cheer teams, and we will provide more information about the start of those seasons once the county provides updated guidance.
