The three candidates seeking the one open seat on the City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» Board of Education will participate in a virtual Board Candidates Forum via Google Meet on Wednesday evening.

Victor Cain, Hassan Elminyawi and Edith Leet have been invited to participate in the forum to share their views about education, the school district and much more. The forum will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday and will be held via the same Google Meet platform as the district's regular board meetings.

The forum will be moderated by Debora Brown-Johnson, president of the ÉðÊ¿Âþ» branch of the NAACP.

Each candidate will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves and state their priorities as a prospective board member. They then will respond to questions from the moderator, and there also will be an opportunity for community members to send in live questions during the meeting via the Google Form available at albanyschools.org/questions.

The board election is being held in conjunction with the district's annual budget vote, which is being conducted entirely by mail in all New York school districts due to the COVID-19 crisis. Absentee ballots have been mailed and must be received at Academy Park by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 to be counted. You can mail in your ballot or drop it off in person from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each weekday until the June 9 voting deadline.
