Bike donation: Soares all in for attendance

Rows of bicycles lined up

Thanks to a donation from ÉðÊ¿Âþ» County District Attorney David Soares, the City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» will have 80 brand-new bikes to distribute this year as incentives to promote good attendance.

Soares’ staffer David Graham delivered the first installment of 35 bikes on Monday to Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center, aided by Victory Christian Church Pastor Charlie Muller.

All the bikes were purchased and donated by Soares to underscore the importance of attending school on time, all day, every day.

Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services Assistant Director Karla McDowell and ÉðÊ¿Âþ» Home School Coordinator Torrie Chapple were on hand to help unload the bikes (they are co-chairs of the district’s Attendance Task Force), as was Maintenance and Operations employee Matthew Grant.

The remaining 45 bikes will be delivered in the coming weeks. The bikes are in storage at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center, and will be distributed during the school year.

Thank you, DA Soares, for your support! We love our community partners!
