While the first group of aspiring middle and high school teachers is taking part in the City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ»'s partnership with New York University, the district is preparing to recruit the second cohort in the Embedded Master of Arts in Teaching Residency Program.
The district and the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development will hold a 2018-19 information session Monday, Dec. 4 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at William S. Hackett Middle School, located at 45 Delaware Ave. The meeting will be in the school's library.

Launched in the current school year, NYU Steinhardt’s EMAT program provides an opportunity for up to 15 aspiring middle and high school teachers to earn a master's degree while working in a school setting.
To learn more, . To be eligible, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and meet NYU Steinhardt’s admissions requirements. Candidates cannot be currently certified teachers. Online coursework for 2018-19 begins next July and the residency component begins in August in conjunction with activities leading up to the start of school.
Candidates who successfully complete the year-long program will be guaranteed teaching positions in the district in the school year after completing the program as long as secondary openings are available in the four core subject areas – English, math, social studies, special education and the sciences.
