The City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» marked the latest milestone in the Rebuilding ÉðÊ¿Âþ» project June 1 with a groundbreaking celebration for the second phase of the project -- a two-story, 39,000-square-foot classroom building that will include art and music classrooms.
The new building, located along Washington Avenue extending east from the school, is scheduled to open for the start of the 2020-21 school year. Check out this Phase 2 glance for highlights.
"Our new art and music building will continue the transformation of ÉðÊ¿Âþ» into New York’s most advanced – and, in my opinion – most spectacular high school," said Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams.
The day's activities also included Phase 1 construction tours to give families, staff and community members a look at progress to date on the new three-story, 120,000-square-foot academic building that is being built in back of the school. The Phase 1 academic building is scheduled to open in January.
"Our community has made a significant investment in the future of education in our city through its support of this project," Adams said. "We are deeply grateful for that.
"We know that investment is not just about the bricks and mortar of new facilities. It is about the future of our children, and the future of our community. It is about the commitment that we have made to one another to do what it takes to give our young people the very best that we can afford. It is about sending that clear and unmistakable message that – “We believe in you.” And that we believe in ourselves.
"It is about being 'All in for ÉðÊ¿Âþ».'”
