NFL's Breida speaks with ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High

Breida speaks

ÉðÊ¿Âþ» welcomed San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida to the auditorium on Wednesday, where he spent the day speaking with students about his life experiences and providing words of wisdom and encouragement.

Breida spoke with groups of students about the importance of maintaining focus and staying true to their values, despite whatever obstacles they may encounter in life. He also stressed that while aspiring to play in the NFL is certainly a dream worth having, students need to think about their futures beyond the field.

He shared with students that his dream was always not only to play professionally, but to earn a college degree as well—both things he has now accomplished.

“You definitely can’t play football forever; you always need to have a backup plan,” Breida said.

“And no matter what you do in life, do it to the fullest.”

Breida regularly provides motivational visits to schools around his home state of Florida, and arranged to stop by ÉðÊ¿Âþ» High while he was in the area.

The mission of the City School District of ÉðÊ¿Âþ»is to work in partnership with our diverse community to engage every learner in a robust educational program designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for success. The district serves more than 9,600 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at ÉðÊ¿Âþ».
